FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Family Planning of Clallam County to Become Planned Parenthood of the Great Northwest
North Olympic Peninsula patients will be served at one of three Planned Parenthood health centers in Port Angeles, Sequim and Forks starting this Fall
Family Planning of Clallam County (FPCC) today announced its intent to turn over family planning and other services to Planned Parenthood of the Great Northwest (PPGNW). The announcement follows two separate votes by the boards of each organization over the weekend and on Monday, August 23rd. The trusted staff of FPCC will join PPGNW and services will be provided at existing health center locations.
Family Planning of Clallam County (FPCC) recently conducted a strategic planning process to assess the future direction of the organization. Because the mission and values of FPCC are so closely aligned with those of Planned Parenthood of the Great Northwest (PPGNW), it was determined that bringing PPGNW into Clallam County was the best course of action. “This action will ensure that the women, men and teens of Clallam County have continued access to the same great services they’ve been receiving from FPCC and we can economize by stretching administrative resources offered by PPGNW,” said Jack Slowriver, Executive Director of Family Planning of Clallam County. “Our decision is motivated by a deep commitment to ensure that vital reproductive healthcare and education remain affordable and enhanced in our community.”
Market forces and environmental trends are compelling nonprofit health organizations across the country to evaluate how their services can be sustained and their communities best served. “We’re delighted to partner with Family Planning of Clallam County, a much beloved and vital community health provider,” said Chris Charbonneau, President and CEO of Planned Parenthood of the Great Northwest. “The long-term benefit of this decision will be a more comprehensive and effective delivery of affordable high-quality reproductive health care to more people in our communities.”
Family Planning of Clallam County (FPCC) has been serving the North Olympic Peninsula for more than 35 years. In the course of this time, FPCC has grown from a small group of dedicated volunteers to a community leader in youth education and reproductive healthcare services in three health centers located in Port Angeles, Sequim and Forks. Starting this fall, these health centers will continue services under the banner of Planned Parenthood of the Great Northwest.
Planned Parenthood has served the state of Washington since 1935 and is recognized for its patient care and service. PPGNW and FPCC share a dedication to high-quality, affordable health care for all. Together, these organizations have over 110 years of combined experience providing high-quality care to women, men and couples – helping them prevent unintended pregnancy and plan strong, healthy families in Washington State.
As with FPCC, the overwhelming majority of Planned Parenthood services focus on prevention. Ninety-five percent of PPGNW’s services are related to prevention – including education, contraception, breast and cervical cancer screenings, and sexually transmitted infection testing and treatment. Looking forward, PPGNW will conduct an assessment of community partners and services to make sure we are providing care that most meets the needs of Clallam County residents.
